26. So Papa has gone home. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Baba was a highly respected person even Muslims in the community in those days at Gbelekale had a great respect and regards for him. He was a disciplinarian, even we that are not his biological children feared and reference him. He was a peace maker among the landlords and even when the children were fighting he made peace for them. In Ministry, he was just an upright and fearless minister of God rightly expounding the word of God. I remember when he lost his first son Bro Folorunsho (if my memory serve me right), he did not allow the incident to affect his ministry and service to God. He was just a great man. I remember the church Divine Love Gospel Church was built with planks, it grew to the extent that people used to sit outside before a larger auditorium was built. He was just a great man of God. I am sure that crown of life reserved for faithful servant is already waiting for him because he served his maker with all his heart while on the earth here. Adieu Papa - Pst Femi BOLARINWA

37. Pa Samuel Modupe Idowu, my father, my father, and my father. He laid the foundation of faith in my life. Under his preachings, teachings and prayers I became born again. He taught me to read the Bible, to pray and to add the dimension of fasting. He taught me to wake up and pray in the night, not only in congregational vigil, but on regular personal vigil. He taught me to always dedicate the last day and first day of every year to fasting and prayer seeking the face of the LORD in my little way then. He taught me to have dreams and interpreted my dreams. Each time I took my dreams to him as teenager, he interpreted them and told me to keep the dreams. He made me realized I will be a minister of the gospel whatever I do in life. He told me to add education to my calling so it might have acceptance in my generation, always saying, the coming generation will need knowledge before you can minister to them. He took me to his library to see how he invested on books to meet up with the challenges of elites in the body of Christ. Baba, I knew I missed your companionship at a time I needed you most. I was separated from you by religious 'zealots'. The early Pentecostal sealeousness pushed me away from you untimely. You fought to retain me, but could not prevail on the decree of the 'Persians and the Medians". You nurtured me as a father to a son. You took me as your first son, and breeded me with your children. You never at anytime call me a church member, rather your first son. Thank God, you made my 'siblins' realized I am part of the home. You contributed greatly to my career, you prayer for me to excel. To the glory of God your prayers have Fulfillments in my life. Today what you said my destiny is for is what it's fulfilling - a fulfilled minister of the gospel. The bond of love and unity you preached to us in our morning devotions are working, my brothers and sister see me as their first born. They called me when our mummy slept that I should come and play my 'firstborn role' and still calling me now to be with them as the firstborn, to glory of God. I remembered you wispered it to my ears the last time I visited you that, Olukayode, (Baba're), don't forget that I love you as my son. Though you were not allowed to stay with me but your love is regularly in my heart. Daddy, you were a rear Love Personified, you lived true to your calling - Divine Love Gospel Church. I know you are sleeping, you will wake up at the Resurrection, you have joined the Victorious Church, you have fought and conquered, you have laid down your sword at the feet of Christ, sooner, I will sing the song of the Conquerors with you as I keep on the firing line. Adeue My Father. Rest on Pa Samuel Modupe Idowu. - ADEWUYI EZEKIEL OLUKAYODE

38. Words are not enough to describe Baba but one thing I know is he was my father, mentor, encourager, loving, giver and hospitable. May the Lord continue to bless the family and the works he left behind. Adieu Pa ldowu. It is well! - Apostle Dare Ojo

39. The only time I met this man of God in my life was quite revolutionary and spiritually empowering. It was at GBM in Pretoria about 20 years ago. He was talking about structural integrity and I was never the same again. My desire had been to one day visit him in Nigeria but God's plans were not mine I will definitely see him one day when we will be together with Jesus - Advocate Rufus Malatji

40. Pa S M Idowu, was a father I never had, very caring, loving and a man of God indeed, will miss you daddy may your soul rest in peace IJN. - Olaosebikan Oluyinka

41. *TRIBUTE TO AN ICON OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD. LATE REV. DR. MODUPE SAMUEL IDOWU* . Beloved Father and God's General. Your transition unto glory was what I was so privileged to have witness through divine revelation by the holy spirit in my dream. Up till the moment that am writing this tribute, I lack words to describe the kind of radiance of God's glory that was surrounding you at that moment. Your face was so much radiating with God's glory without wrinkles. In my dream I saw how two men in pure white carried you and placed your body in a special cubicle fill with the glory of God just like Jesus transfiguration was explained in the bible. The cubicle was designed with Gold and white and you were robed in white suit from head to toe. I was so involved in your funeral in my dream and I remember how I was called to clean up the room where you would be laid in state. Up till now I kept on pondering on why I was assigned to take up the cleaning of the room where you would be laid in state. In my dream, I saw lots of people waiting for me to clean up the room for you to be laid in state for their viewing. I must say that this is one those visions/dreams that will always be in my memory and can never be forgotten. This tells me how much of an asset you are to God and his kingdom. Truly heaven gained not only a soul, but a general of God's army. Even though you have gone to be with the lord, your voice still echoes in our minds. The prayers, declarations and pronouncements you made upon my husband, myself and the ministry can never be forgotten. I remember when I related this to you over the phone you simply said " EMI KII SE OMODE MO. IGBAKUGBA TO OBA YA, MO TI SE TAN . AWON ALASO FUNFUN TI WA N WO MI " . ( " I AM NO LONGER BABY, I AM READY AT ANYTIME TO GO. ACTUALLY THE ANGEL HAVE BEEN VISITING ME.") Your response to the dream narrated to you and your readiness to go be with our heavenly father, your creator took a huge turn in our lives. Thanking you for being a true hero of faith and of God's kingdom while you were alive. Your legacy remains indelible in our minds and minds of those who has been able to have an encounter with you during life time. Adieu God's own general. From Apostle philip & Prophetess Tonia Ozobu. Founders: Vineyard of God Glory international Ministries ( VOGGIM) South Africa. - Prophetess Tonia Ozobu

42. The Star,a rock and an Apostle of our time has gone home to be with the Lord. What can I say at this point in time. A father, a mentor, the one we run to anytime we experience an unforeseen gridlock in ministry! This I cannot forget Papa, as you proffered solutions, counsels and encouragement at a time of despair and dejection. Your fatherly advice at early beginning of ministry as to what man really is proved altogether, prophetically true in later years as we moved on in ministerial work. Thank you Papa. This is unforgettable to all of us. Papa, as I personally know you from day one, you stood for Justice, honesty, integrity, holiness and fair play. Hey! If you know you can not defend a matter in the presence of the person concerned, don’t bring this before Papa. His righteousness , sincerity and truthfulness stood firmly. Papa you loved all, even your detractors knew this very well as you would not keep malice in your heart. You cared for all as an outstanding Shepherd of the sheep. You exuded love and this had been the motivating factor in all you did. For the little time you departed, we have missed you a great deal, your wealth of experience, wisdom, fatherly counsel and the likes. But we take solace in the fact that you have gone home to be with the Lord. Adieu Papa Samuel Modupe Idowu.Eternal rest and peace grant his gentle soul O Lord. Pastor ‘Doja Ojo. Christ Living Seed Assembly, Apete, Ibadan. - Ojo Oladoja.

135. My Dear Father in-Law, I Bukola Idowu, nee Adepoju (your first daughter-inlaw) will forever appreciate the way you trained my husband Idowu Moses Sunday . You thought him how to hold his family together , how to fear and reference God and how to serve the Lord in spirit and in truth with integrity. I am a beneficiary of your relentless labours over my husband. I Really appreciate you for your prayers over my children ( your grandchildren). They are moving from glory to glory in all ramifications. HALLELUJAH..... Let me mimic you, beloved father in-law. Thank you for the music inspirations you passed to your dear Son , Moses Sunday Idowu ( my husband). It is now an indelible legacy my husband has passed to our children (your grandchildren). There was a particular experience I cannot overemphasized. Everytime I would deliver each of my three boys, I had to be prayed for by you, else, the baby would not come, no matter who might have prayed. All our children were born with and in prayers. Above all, your legacies will forever linger in my heart. Rest on and live on. Idowu Bukola nee Adepoju. - Idowu Bukola nee Adepoju

136. To my dearest grandfather Rev. Dr. Samuel Modupe Idowu. I cannot but thank you for all you have done directly or indirectly for our children, grandchildren and myself in particular. From raising a God fearing son in the person of Idowu Moses Sunday to nurturing to him into being a man/ of God he is today is extremely spectacular. Also , Grandpa , you were able to introduce the love of music to your children and the legacy is now transferred to us your grandchildren. Grandpa, this cannot be left untold. The Bible said, " By their fruits, you shall know them" . Yes, I cannot agree for once, because , the values, morals and above all, the fear/ love of GOD you have taught your children (your fruits) are still living and are echoing beyond you. Note that your grand children including me, ADEDAMOLA SAMUEL IDOWU are beneficiaries of these long and enduring investments. YOU ARE JUST A SMART INVESTOR and an enviable sower. THANK YOU FOREVER. You might probably not have realized how important your labours on your children have turned gold, but check the fathomless results on your children's children. I,as a grandchild promise to keep the flag flying by the grace of God until eternity. GRANDPA,I want to say a massive THANKS to you. Beloved Grandfather, I believe it is my duty to carry on the responsibility of making sure that my own children know the importance of a relationship with God and having their own personal relationship with God. It is the ultimate.  Dearest grandfather, I would like to say a massive thank you , you have ran your race and without a doubt, you have finished as a champion. Enjoy your crown in the land of gold and joy. Rest in peace, you deserve it . Much love Samuel Adedamola Idowu - Idowu Samuel Adedamola

137. I'm just short for words, I don't even know where to start & what to say about my bossom father that people won't think that I am exaggerating. Baba ldowu, as we fondly called him, was a man of faith, he believed in God so much that he didn't take any steps without consulting God through prayer for his approval. He was always content with whatever God gave him, he sought the kingdom of God first, he didn't seek money & things of this world. He always told us that " IT IS A FEARFUL THING TO FALL INTO THE HANDS OF GOD" He was a Caring father, growing up, if anyone of us fell ill, he would excuse his wife, he would stay by his/ her bedside praying & recite psalms till daybreak. He was a wise man, there was no one that came across him wouldn't be blessed from his wealth of wisdom. He was a wise & skillful disputes peace maker. He was a accommodating father,; his house was always full of different personalities & you could never leave his house hungry or empty handed. He was a man that appreciated kind gesture; kind gesture to him begets kinder gesture from him. He cherished education so much that he always encourages the people around him ( including his domestic staff) to send their children to school; at times he would pay their children's school fees anytime they sent them home for payment default. He taught me how to be prayerful & patient in life; he would say to me " ALWAYS LOOK UNTO JESUS IS THE FINISHER OF YOUR FAITH " ALSO CHRIST IN YOU IS THE HOPE GLORY " DON'T LOOK BACK. I can't say enough of this precious gift to me, my siblings & humanity; this gift called REV ( DR) SAMUEL MODUPE IDOWU. DADDY, I LOVE YOU, YOU WILL FOREVER BE MISSED. ADIEU - Idowu Seun

He lived his life both in the circular and spiritual world not only as a teacher of the word but a doer of of it as exemplified in the life of his maternal and spiritual children. 143. In 1990, I was going back to School in Ado Ekiti and I went to say bye to Baba Idowu at Ile Aperin, Ibadan. He was giving other people money including his own biological children as it was resumption season. Soone of them (name withheld) refused because he felt the money was small. So he asked him to bring the money and never gave him anything. Brother Folorunso of blessed memory quickly called me and said "Did you see what happened now?". He said "Once Baba gives you anything, prostrate and say thank you". So Baba called me and gave me #5, I prostrated and thanked him, then he said, "Omo to gbon ni Iwo" (You are a wise child) not knowing that I leveraged on Brooda Folorunso's wisdom. God bless Brooda Folorunso, amen. Baba Idowu was instrumental to my success in ministry. His son Evang Moses Idowu is my Mentor who invited me to the crusade where I gave my life to Christ Jesus at OAU, Ile-Ife, organised by Abundant Life Campus Fellowship. Baba Idowu as the spiritual father to Rev A.A. Afolayan who trained and ordained me into ministry. I refer to him as my spiritual grandfather๐Ÿ˜€. Just as Steve Job is alive till date because IPhone and apple products are in use till date. So also Baba Idowu is alive because someone like me and thousands of my type are alive carrying the Baton of Gods kingdom and it's Gospel around the world through Divinity for Humanity. To Live is Pain but To Sleep is Gain. Death is just a carrier of man to his final destination. Baba Divine Love, Your Posterity and Legacy lives on. Grace and Mercy Always amen. 145. The quality of a father can be seen in the goals, dreams and aspirations he sets not only for himself, but for his family." —v “Daddy are most ordinary men turned by love into heroes, adventurers, story-tellers, and singers of song.” – “‘Father’ is the noblest title a man can be given. It is more than a biological role. 147. Pa Idowu was a great man of God. I was born into church and I got my vital Christian foundation in the institution he founded. He was there for us when we lost our parents particularly our mum when we were housed in Mission house immediately after the news. He was really a pillar. I can recall a day I went visiting and he was counseling about to Wed couple, he invited me to join and learn so was his openness in passing knowledge. - Tolulope Fasina

148. Dear Grandpa. I know you are no longer with us , but I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for all that you have done for my family and I , direct and Indirectly. I have so much love and so much respect for you for all that you were able to teach and led us to do through our parents (Moses and Bukola Idowu.). You were able to show us how to love , how to respect one another , how to persevere through any difficulty, and most importantly how to serve God wholeheartedly. I really thank you for the prayers and blessings you poured over me in one of the unforgettable days in 2021. All these blessings and prayers shall be established and answered in my life in Jesus name. You are such a Wonderful Grandfather. Grandpa, you encouraged all your children to learn and play one musical instrument or the other, that legacy is now transferred to my brothers and I. Praise God, your legacy transcends your children to your grandchildren. The good news is that, my brothers and I are now instrumentalists. We are worshipping the Lord in spirit and in truth with our musical gifts. Grandpa, keep resting in the bosom of the Lord. Your legacy will never be extinguished. 150. John 6:36 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. This bible verse was one of your favorite verses in the bible and will resonate with me till the end of time. For some reasons, since your passing it has stayed with me permanently that not a single day will pass that it wont flash through my mind. You did not fail to always reiterate the need to long after things of the spirit other than the flesh or worldly things; the need to focus more on heavenly than the earthly!. So now I remember all the preaching and verses in the bible that you have used both at church and home and they have become flesh and live with me now; they are truly spirit and life as shown in John6:36. It is not a mistake that I am your son because I know there must be a reason why I came to this world through you and your tutelage. I pray all my experiences as a child and a growing adult under your training and discipline will take their roots in all your efforts to equip me ready for God's plans and purpose for my life and bring about a divine narrative of my essence and being. Amen. Adieu Daddy. 165. I met Baba Idowu in the pastorium of Divine Love Gospel Church in 1979 on how to actualize a vision a vision that God gave me. He engaged me in Godly discussion for hours, after which I believe he assessed me and was satisfied with me. That day, he threw his weight on me, to back me up, giving me loads of fatherly and Godly advice. He demonstrated to me how to support a young man of God. Greatest of all is that each time that God shows him to me, he always appeared in sparkling white. Once, God showed him to me as a boxer. I was told he fights according to the rules. He fights clean and always won. I understood this to mean fighting in prayers. Baba was a self-developed, diligent and wise leader. He led efficiently many highly intelligent and highly educated people in many Christian organizations. My wife, my family and ministry were proud to be associated with him and his family. I enjoyed the privilege of intimate relationship with him and the wisdom he imparted to me will remain a treasure with me forever. I am delighted to know by revelation that he is in the bosom of our Lord. I pray that I and many many will persevere and be with him in glory, Amen. - Rev. Ademolaami A. Afolayan

192. Daddy Rev Dr Samuel Modupe ldowu is an exceptional father. Finding the right words to accurately describe a wonderful father is extremely difficult. Lots of words jumped into my mind but l feel they aren’t adequate. Indeed Daddy was a great gift to me and this generation in particular. His gentle fragrance of love spreads across board ever since l met him. He readily fathered since my first contact with him and will always pray for me. I cherish his prayers of ‘Ore Ofe’ for me, wife and children so much. He was warm, accommodating, easy going, calm, considerate, highly intelligent, amiable etc. His house is always filled with many people that lived with him and never-ever complained or blinked his eyes. He enjoyed hosting such a huge number of people and spends so much on them with all joy. We recognize the fact that times and seasons are in God hands, so Daddy & Mummy Idowu plus my Greatest Friend Folorunso encountered God and enjoyed the Grace of God during their life times. Over the years Folorunso remains irreplaceable in the depth of my heart. Daddy served God fervently so, it’s has pleased the Lord to call him home to rest. 207. God's general, selfless leader, gently looking but a lion personified who fears no one, he inflicted in me the word of determination with the acronym that was boldly written and posted conspicuously on the wall that says WHEN THERE IS WILL THERE IS WAY. He always told me to read it until it eventually sank into my brain anytime I visited the mission house at weekends or during the holidays until it became a watchword. 245. Rev S.M Idowu fondly called Baba Divine in the neighborhood then was an indefatigable gospel preacher who not only preached but practically lived what he preached. A thoroughly loving father,a leader with a sincere heart of service. Only fools doubt proofs:his children are evidences of his purposeful parenting He was very calm at turbulent times, just like the Christ. Yet he surmounted them all. He preached and lived Divine Love Jeesu oooo,bi o ti Wu ki o ri ma je ki n koja ife Re. We lived with an Hero of Christian faith in the person of Rev. Dr S. M . 246. Tribute to one of God's Generals - Rev. Dr Samuel Modupe Idowu Rev. Dr Samuel Modupe Idowu who was the founder and first president of Divine Love Gospel Church International lived a life of service to God. His contribution and influence in Evangelism in Nigeria and worldwide cannot be under rated. It is so gladsome to note this God's general had many impressive attributes of Jesus Christ: - in humility - in love, kindness, above all Papa Idowu was emotional like Jesus who wept at the grave side of his friend, Lazarus. Papa Idowu will emotionally shed tears on any issue that touched his heart. - in prayers and supplication, Papa Idowu was a prayer warrior who believed in the efficacy of prayer and committed all challenges into God's hands. I would like to mention that Papa Idowu was a reputable dignified in-law of the Olaniyan family of Efon Alaye (his son Bayonle Idowu married our daughter Oyinlola Cynthia Idowu, nee Olaniyan. The memories of my last visit to him will continue to linger on in my heart. Papa Idowu came, did his best and sowed bountifully in God's vineyard and he is happily resting in His bosom. Rest on beloved Papa Idowu till we meet again on Resurrection day. - Chief Tunji Olaniyan M.O.N - Tunji Olaniyan

247. Papa Idowu accommodated us. The Idowu and Obisesan families were the nearest to our school, but the Idowu gracefully took us in. One of my friends would describe Pa Idowu as if it was yesterday, they last met. He had a lot to say when I told him that pa passed away. We both felt the difference between Obisesan and Idowu households. At the Idowu's there was a place we had to keep quiet and another where we had the latitude to laugh and shout. I am not blaming anybody. It was different ground rules and may God bless the soul of Pa Obisesan. The Idowu's house was a home to all of us. Oladipo Ogunsola - Oladipupo Ogunsola

163. "Daddy -n -mission" as we fondly called him was a centripetal force among we -the children. He (and mummy) took us ALL -blood and neighbour sons and daughters, as his. Luckily, we grew up, at that "age -grade, when there was no religious bigotry. All the children belonged to the community (and by extension, all the parents in the community) where they grew.It was "communal parenting ". As a Muslim, I would enter into the church (Divine Love Gospel church; which of course is not up to a stone's throw to my Dad 's house) and the mission house, freely, anytime after having prostrated before Daddy. "Pele o, Rasheed ", Daddy would respond, smiling, to my greetings. "Tunde /Remi wa nile ", he would direct me to their room. As I am friend to Tunde, Remi and Wole, I had /have Brothers Sunday and Bayo, as my dear "area " brothers. Each time Brother Bayo gathered us into his room, to teach us "Philosophy ", Daddy's nods spurred us on. Daddy's "mission house " was /is for us ALL. His memories shall be indelible in our minds, as youth. A Disciplinarian per excellence, Daddy was a teacher of virtues. Struggles to make ends meet made someone like me missed him, even before his call to glory. Adieu, Dad! Continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord! Rasheed Ajao (Ile Aperin, Ibadan) - Rasheed Ajao

Pa Idowu has contributed a lot to my spiritual achievements today. I will ever continue to remember him for the good old days especially "Youth Week'in 70s..

43. In my 40 years of ministry, I have not seen a man of God that was totally blameless except Pa Rev. Idowu. He stood for truth and pure, undiluted theology all his life.

138. Daddy Idowu lived a fulfilled and exemplary life that is worthy of emulation. It signifies a patriarch, a leader, an exemplar, a confidant, a teacher, a hero, a friend.” in which you are.S.M “He was a father. He Eases the burdens of those he loves.

248. Baba oninure, baba afenifere. He gifted me my very first agbada and I kept it for so many years. How can I forget this kind man? May the angels of the Lord celebrate you - Adeojo Omolade

251. Indeed, we have lost a hero, a giant, father, and everything. I have not seen anybody stronger than you. Stronger than your faith in God. Stronger than your willingness to love, to unite and to propagate the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Stronger than your humbleness. Stronger than your love for your family and the church. Nobody is stronger than you. I have never seen a man who's been through so much and be willing to go through even more. I bless you. God bless you. God will be with you for the benefit of us all. You will be dearly missed. - Gbeminiyi Oladimeji
